LONDON - LSU alum and former two-time NCAA Player of the Year Seimone Augustus scored 13 points and added three rebounds as the U.S. Women's National Team overpowered Angola, 90-38, in Olympic preliminary action on Monday in London's Basketball Arena.
Augustus finished an efficient 6-of-9 from the floor and buried a three as well. She contributed two assists in 19 minutes of action off the bench.
"Each opponent is tough in our mind, we look at each opponent as a contender for a medal so we want to come out and play tough every night," said Augustus, who has averaged 7.5 points per game in two contests.
Fellow teammate Sylvia Fowles did not play in the contest after resting a sore left foot.
The win lifted the Americans' Olympic winning streak to 35 consecutive games. They have not lost an Olympic contest since the 1992 Barcelona Games.
Team USA continues preliminary play against Turkey at 4:15 p.m. CT Wednesday. The contest will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network, the NBC Basketball Channel and NBCOlympics.com. Check your local television listings.
