STARKVILLE, Miss. - LSU softball signee Bianka Bell was one of 16 players in the nation to secure 2012 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-America First-Team status Tuesday as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Bell will embark on her LSU career as a freshman in 2013 and capped an impressive senior season with a .731 batting average, 11 home runs, 35 RBIs and a 1.366 slugging percentage. She fueled Chamberlain's High School run to Florida's Class 7A state championship en route to Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Tribune and Florida Gatorade Player of the Year awards.
LSU finished its inaugural season under head coach Beth Torina with a 40-25 record and made the program's third appearance at the Women's College World Series. It marked the 14th time in 16 seasons that the Tigers finished with at least 40 victories since softball was reinstated in 1997.
