BATON ROUGE - The LSU women's tennis team (8-6, 2-2 SEC) will face its final two non-conference tests of the regular season when the Lady Tigers host Ohio State (5-8, 0-1 BIG 10) and Grambling in a doubleheader on Tuesday with first serve slated for 1 p.m. CT and continuing at 5 p.m. at W.T. Dub Robinson Stadium.
"We need to rebound from a heartbreaker that we had against Minnesota," LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. "Ohio State and Grambling both present opportunities to hopefully get wins."
The Lady Tigers split a pair of matches on Saturday with a 4-0 sweep of Prairie View A&M following a tight 4-3 loss to Minnesota.
Kaitlin Burns has carried the banner for LSU of late having won three-straight singles matches, and she was a game away from her fourth in-a-row when her match against Prairie View was called once LSU had clinched. She is 7-3 in her last 10 completed singles appearances, in addition to being just one win away from 50 for her career.
Olivia Howlett and Yvette Vlaar each own 6-3 singles records in their most recent 10 results. The duo also teamed up to sweep their two doubles matches on Saturday, including the doubles point-clinching result against Minnesota.
LSU holds a 2-1 advantage over Ohio State in the all-time series, but the Lady Tigers dropped the most recent meeting on the road in 2010, by a 5-2 margin. LSU is 4-0 all-time against Grambling, including a 7-0 victory last season.
