BATON ROUGE -- No. 8 LSU (16-4) concludes its eight-game homestand at 5 p.m. Tuesday as the Tigers play host to Southern University (9-10) in Alex Box Stadium.

The game will be carried by the affiliates of the LSU Sports Radio Network, with Baton Rouge affiliate WDGL 98.1 FM serving as the flagship station. Live video, audio and stats of the game may be accessed in the Geaux Zone at www.LSUsports.net/live.

The game was moved from Wednesday night to Tuesday at 5 p.m due to projected severe storms in the Baton Rouge area. The weather forecast on Wednesday calls for significant storm activity, so LSU officials decided to move the game to give the teams the best chance to play.

Fans should bring their Game 20 ticket for admission to Alex Box Stadium for Tuesday's LSU-Southern game.

"This is a game we always look forward to," said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. "I love (Southern coach) Roger Cador and we have great respect for his program. His players often work at our camps during the summer, so we have a great relationship with them. It's a lot of fun to play Southern, but at the same time we know what kind of challenge they present. It's a very important game for us as we prepare for our SEC series this weekend at Auburn."

Mainieri said that freshman left-hander Cody Glenn (1-0, 5.59 ERA) will make his second career collegiate start Tuesday against Southern. Cador will counter with freshman left-hander John Thigpen (1-1, 0.90 ERA), who will make his first collegiate start after appearing in five game out of the bullpen.

LSU won two of three games over Mississippi State in the Tigers' opening SEC series last weekend in Alex Box Stadium. Junior rightfielder Raph Rhymes helped lead the Tigers to the series victory over the Bulldogs, batting .556 (5-for-9) in three games with three walks and a .667 on-base percentage. Rhymes hit .538 (7-for-13) in the Tigers' four games last week with four RBI.

Sophomore second baseman JaCoby Jones was 4-for-12 over the weekend with one double and two RBI, including the game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th inning in Friday's 3-2 win over MSU. The extra-inning game on Friday was LSU's first since June 4, 2010 when the Tigers defeated UC Irvine, 11-10, in 11 innings at the NCAA Los Angeles Regional.

Junior first baseman Mason Katz collected five RBI in four games last week, including a two-run homer in Saturday's win over Mississippi State, his fourth dinger of the season.

Southern is led at the plate by sophomore outfielder Brian Rowry, who is hitting .381 on the year with eight doubles, one triple and 11 RBI. Junior infielder Derrick Hopkins is batting .372 with six doubles, two homers and 14 RBI, while senior infielder Cameron McGriff is batting .257 with two  homers and 12 RBI.

The Jaguars are hitting .253 as a team with 45 doubles, seven triples, nine homers and 15 steals in 24 attempts.

LSU leads the series with its intra-city rival, 45-2, as the teams first met in 1970. Tuesday's game marks the first meeting between the clubs since May 29, 2009, a 10-2 LSU victory in the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional at Alex Box Stadium.

LSU has won six consecutive games over Southern - the Jaguars' last win over the Tigers came on May 3, 2005, a 9-5 triumph in Alex Box Stadium. Southern's only other win in the series occurred on March 6, 2001, an 11-6 victory in Alex Box Stadium.
