BATON ROUGE - The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes honored six LSU student-athletes as part of their academic achievements and community service for March.

Each month, five student-athletes are recognized for their academic improvement, dedication and proven ability. In addition, one student-athlete is chosen through LSU's Student-Athlete Affairs program for their volunteerism and commitment to the community.

March's student-athletes of the month are Grant Dozar [Baseball], Ryan Eades [Baseball], Kaitlyn Moreau [Track & Field], Kevin Minter [Football] and David Roberts [Men's Tennis]. Kaelee Mader [Swimming & Diving] was selected as the Shaquille O'Neal CHAMPS/Student-Athlete Affairs Athlete of the Month.

Dozar is a management major, while Eades and Minter are majoring in sports administration. Moreau is undecided, but plans to major in exercise science. Roberts is a finance major, whereas Mader is a chemical engineering major.

Dozar, a senior baseball player from Morgan City, La., is a valuable first baseman and catcher. In his junior season, he started 14 games playing first base and played in 37 games total. His senior season already includes numerous highlights as well, as he recently hit a two-run double in the game against Michigan. His hard work continues outside of the game and into the classroom, as he received SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll in 2009 and Academic Honor Roll in 2011.

A sophomore pitcher from Slidell, La., Eades makes an impact on the mound every time he steps foot on it. In his freshman season, he achieved a position in the starting rotation and was named the 2011 Cape Cod Pitcher of the Year. In a recent win against Dartmouth, Eades played in six innings, allowing only five hits and one run, and he delivered five strikeouts.

Moreau, a freshman multi-event track and field athlete from Lafayette, La., was the 2011 top multi-event prospect in Louisiana. She earned Class 5A consecutive state titles in the 300-meter hurdles in the LHSAA Outdoor State Track & Field Championship, where she set a state record in the event in 2010.

A junior linebacker from Suwanee, Ga., Minter had an impressive season on the SEC Champion team, where he played in 13 games with 10 starts and ranked fifth on the team with 56 tackles. As he took a redshirt for the 2010 season, Minter has two years of eligibility remaining and will be the only returning starting linebacker in the upcoming season.

Roberts, senior tennis player from Lafayette, La., earned a 5-4 singles record and a 3-3 doubles record in the fall and currently serves as one of the team captains for his team. Off the court, he has served his community just as much as his teammates, being selected for the SEC Community Service Team in both 2010 and 2011. His efforts did not keep him from maintaining a high grade point average, as he earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

A junior swimmer from Houston, Texas, Mader is a valuable asset to her team, as she competed in every dual meet, the Cougar Classic and the SEC Championship during her sophomore season. Mader has greatly contributed to her team, but the community. On top of her numerous hospital visits made with the swimming and diving team, she recently volunteered for Give Kids a Smile Day, a Read Across Louisiana event and a Read Across America event. Her hard work doesn't stop there, as she was also selected for the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll in 2010 and SEC Academic Honor Roll in 2011.

For putting forth extra effort in the classroom and community in addition to their rigorous academic and competition schedules, these six student-athletes will have their pictures displayed on the wall in the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes.
