BATON ROUGE -- The Lady Tigers tennis team (6-3, 1-1 SEC) will take on No. 17 Alabama (7-2, 2-0 SEC) in its Southeastern Conference home opener on Friday at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Stadium with first serve set for 3 p.m. CT.
"Alabama is probably the best we will have played so far this season," LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. "It's a great opportunity for us, hopefully we will have a good crowd to come and support us because we have a great opportunity."
LSU split a pair of matches on the road last weekend at Kentucky and Vanderbilt respectively. The Lady Tigers took their fifth-consecutive victory at Kentucky before dropping their match at Vanderbilt on Sunday.
Yvette Vlaar has the best singles record in the last 10 matches for LSU, as she has only dropped two of those appearances.
Olivia Howlett has gone 7-3 in her most recent 10 appearances, and her 15-7 record this season leads LSU.
Keri Frankenberger and Whitney Wolf have formed a formidable partnership on court one as they are 6-3 there, including a perfect 3-0 record in tiebreakers.
LSU holds a 28-11 advantage over Alabama all-time, but the Crimson Tide won the most recent result a year ago in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
