BATON ROUGE - The LSU Lady Tigers (2-2) are set to renew one of the state's most storied rivalries as they will take on the Tulane Green Wave (6-0) at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Tennis Stadium.
"The matchup against Tulane has always been an intense rivalry since I have been at LSU," head coach Tony Minnis said. "They have a very good team this year as they are undefeated so it should be a challenging match."
LSU split a pair of matches, each by a 5-2 score line, in their most recent outing, a double header against Rice and Southern last Tuesday.
Kaitlin Burns' play highlighted the day as she won all four of the matches she played in both singles and doubles. The Wilmington, N.C., native has won six of her last 10 singles matches as she has 43 career victories with 13 of those triumphs coming on court two.
Sophomore Yvette Vlaar has also won six of her last 10 singles matches. Her 25th career victory came in her last match, against Southern.
Seniors Whitney Wolf and Olivia Howlett have continued to lead the Lady Tigers into the dual match season as they are each 7-3 in their last 10 matches on courts one and two respectively.
LSU pulled out a 4-3 thriller a season ago at Tulane in a match that came down to the final point, where Burns saved several match points en route to a three-set victory.
The Lady Tigers hold a 30-4 advantage in the all-time matchup against the Green Wave.
