BATON ROUGE- The LSU Lady Tigers tennis team (1-0) opens its home schedule against the Texas A&M Aggies (1-1) on Sunday at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Tennis Stadium with play set to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
"This is a very exciting home opener," LSU head coach Tony Minnis said. "It's obviously a huge match. Texas A&M has been a great rivalry over the past 20 years since I have been here and it is only going to get more intense with them joining the Southeastern Conference next season. It's a great opportunity for fans to come watch some exciting tennis on Super bowl Sunday."
The Lady Tigers began their spring season two weeks ago at Colorado, earning their first 7-0 sweep in a season-opener since 2010 against University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Whitney Wolf led the way for the Lady Tigers as she earned victories on court one in both singles and doubles alongside Keri Frankenberger. The win was the senior's 61st career victory, and the 16th time she has won on court one. She has now won 11 of her last 14 matches dating back to the fall.
Olivia Howlett and Kaitlin Burns have also been major contributors to the LSU cause of late as they are 7-3 and 6-4 respectively in their past 10 matches.
The Lady Tigers fell in a closely contested matchup by a score of 4-3 against the Aggies a year ago in College Station, Texas.
The match will be the 34th matchup between the two teams all-time with Texas A&M leading the series 21-13.
