KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. - The LSU men's tennis team earned 14 wins overall this weekend in the Key Biscayne Invitational to begin the 2012 season.

The Tigers picked up 14 overall wins in singles and doubles over three days of action.

On the last day of tournament play, senior Tom Knights defeated Texas' Jacoby Lewis, edging by the first set in a tiebreaker and taking the last set 6-4 to seal the match.

Freshman Chris Simpson also took down his Texas opponent Jacoby Lewis in a competitive match that ended 7-6(5), 6-4.

"They were all very competitive matches," head coach Jeff Brown said. "We won three of the four tiebreakers that came our way, and both Chris (Simpson) and Tom (Knights) came up with some big wins."

The Tigers will now head back to Baton Rouge to prepare for their first dual match against Rice on January 22.
