BATON ROUGE - Five members of the LSU football team earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference Coaches' Freshman All-SEC team, the league office announced Thursday.

Odell Beckham Jr., James Hairston, Kenny Hilliard, Anthony Johnson and Brad Wing were selected to the team.

LSU's five selections are the most by any SEC team. Tennessee had four selections as did Arkansas, including Honorary Captain Garrett Uekman.

It also marks the second straight year LSU received recognition on the Freshman All-SEC team after Tyrann Mathieu, Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery earned spots on the team last season.

Beckham Jr. ranks second on the team with 36 receptions for 437 yards, and the New Orleans native also hauled in two touchdowns this season - a 52-yard score at West Virginia and a 51-yarder against Kentucky.

Hairston handled the kickoff duties for LSU in the last 10 games of the season and had 16 kickoffs go for touchbacks. He boomed five of eight kickoffs for touchbacks against Arkansas, which is the most touchbacks in a game since Chris Jackson had five against Arizona on Sept. 9, 2006.

Hilliard has rushed for 320 yards and is tied for the team lead with eight rushing touchdowns this season. The Patterson, La., native earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors against Arkansas when he set a career high with 102 rushing yards and one touchdown on 19 carries. A week later Hilliard exploded for a season-best three touchdowns all in the third quarter against Georgia in the SEC Championship game, rushing for two and catching another.

Johnson has earned 12 tackles this season, including three tackles for a loss, and he recorded his first career sack at Mississippi State.

A First-Team All-SEC selection by the Associated Press and second-teamer by the Coaches, Wing placed 46 percent of his punts (23 of 50) inside the opponent's 20-yard line during the season, and he kicked the third-longest punt in school history - a 73-yarder at Alabama on Nov. 5. That punt tied Ole Miss' Tyler Campbell for the longest of any punter in the SEC this season.
