AUBURN, Ala. --- The LSU men's tennis team placed two players in the main draw singles quarterfinals and three pairs in the third round of the doubles main draw Friday at the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships in Auburn, Ala.
Senior Mark Bowtell and junior Olivier Borsos each will represent the Tigers in the quarterfinals of the singles main draw.
Bowtell took down Auburn's Dennis Lengsfeld 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, to advance to the quarterfinals. Borsos defeated teammate Chris Simpson in straight sets to move on.
In doubles, Tiger tandems Neal Skupski and Roger Anderson, Tom Knights and Matt Zachary, and Borsos and Simpson all racked up victories to continue on in the tournament.
"We had a very solid day," assistant coach Danny Bryan said. "We have some tough competition tomorrow and we are looking forward to coming out and playing hard."
Both Knights and David Roberts also saw victories Friday in the consolation round.
The tournament action will continue Saturday with doubles at 8:30 a.m. CT and singles to follow at 10 a.m. CT.
