BATON ROUGE - LSU gymnastics head coach D-D Breaux has announced the signing of Rheagan Courville and Lloimincia Hall on Monday to complete the 2010 signing class.
Courville, a Baton Rouge native, attends University High School on LSU's campus and trains at Louisiana Gymnastics Training Center. Hall is a native of Dallas, Texas, and she attends Townview Magnet School of Business and Management and trains at Texas Dreams.
Courville currently trains as an elite level gymnast, and she is a three-time qualifier for the Visa Championships (U.S. National Championship). She recently finished 10th in the all-around at the 2010 Visa Championships in August.
Hall is a level 10 gymnast who has trained under former Olympian Kim Zmeskal Burdette and her husband Chris Burdette at Texas Dreams. Hall is a two-time J.O. National Qualifier, and she recently placed in the top 10 in all events at J.O. Nationals in May as she won the floor title and finished second in the all-around.
Courville placed second in the all-around at both the 2010 Texas National Elite Qualifier and 2010 Florida National Elite Qualifier. She captured the beam titles at both meets and the vault and floor titles at the Texas meet.
"Rheagan comes to us with a balance beam routine that is world class," Breaux said. "Her tumbling is as strong and dynamic as anybody in the collegiate ranks. She will make an immediate difference for us in every event."
Throughout her club career Courville has established herself as one of the nation's top gymnasts as she qualified for the Junior U.S. National team in 2007 after placing fifth in the all-around at the Visa Championships.
Courville also captured the all-around and beam titles at the 2007 U.S. Classic, and she qualified for the 2006 Visa Championships at the junior level.
Courville has been a member of the Key Club and National Honor society since 10th grade at U-High, and she was awarded for the most community service hours in 11th grade.
Hall has had a successful 2010 club season by claiming five all-around titles, including the all-around title at the Region 3 regional in April. She also won the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular, the WOGA Classic, the Texas Prime meet and the Kurt Thomas Invitational. Hall was also invited to the inaugural Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup in March.
"Lloimincia is a very powerful gymnast, and she reminds me in a lot of ways of Lauren Companioni in that she is vivacious with a lot of energy," Breaux said. "She has excellent tumbling and vaulting skills, and she will add a dimension to our team that we don't have right now."
Hall picked up four beam titles, two floor titles, one vault title and one bars title in 2010 competitions.
"She will add to the depth and power of our team right away in floor exercise. That's the event she will make an immediate impact," Breaux said.
Hall is active in her church and has maintained her status on the honor roll during her high school career.
Courville and Hall will compete as freshmen in the 2012 season.
