BATON ROUGE - The 2010 LSU football poster was voted the best in the nation in TheWizofOdds.com College Poster contest, the website announced Sunday.
LSU was named a finalist after the field of 78 was narrowed to 11. The poster received 44% of the final votes, beating second place Auburn by almost 1,000 votes.
"This is a great honor for our university and our faithful LSU fans," Jason Feirman, LSU Athletics Publications Director said. "Winning this contest would not be possible without the community of fans of the LSU Football pages on Facebook and Twitter along with our readers on LSUsports.net. They rallied the vote to put us in the top spot."
This is the first time LSU has been recognized in this contest.
The poster features cornerback Patrick Peterson and a packed Tiger Stadium to capture the essence of Saturday Night in Death Valley.
"A tremendous thanks to our staff photographer Steve Franz for his photo of Patrick Peterson and student photographer Chris Parent for his photo of Tiger Stadium," Feirman added. "Also a huge thanks to our Marketing & Promotions office and Sports Information office for assisting with the concept."
