Peterson Named to Playboy All-America Team
Assoc. Athletic Director/Communications
BATON ROUGE - LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson has been selected to the 2010 Playboy Preseason All-America team, the publication announced on Tuesday.
Peterson ranked third in the SEC with 15 passes defended as a sophomore. The Pompano Beach, Fla., native started all 13 games for LSU while registering 52 tackles and two interceptions. Peterson was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference selection by the Associated Press and league coaches.
The junior, who returns as one of the top defensive backs in college football, has already received preseason All-America accolades from several publications, including Phil Steele, Lindy's Football Preview and Athlon Magazine. He is on the watch list for the 2010 Lott Trophy, which embodies integrity, maturity, performance, academics, community and tenacity.
This year marks the 54th year of the Playboy All-America Team, the direct descendent of the original All-America as conceived by Walter Camp back in the 1890's. Camp, then Grantland Rice, then a number of other editors and writers selected an All-America team for Collier¹s Magazine until Collier's went out of business in 1956.
Playboy's 2010 College Football Preview will hit newsstands later this summer.
