All three LSU-Georgia games will be televised
BATON ROUGE -- LSU will honor one of college baseball's coaching legends on Saturday during "Skip Bertman Day" in Alex Box Stadium.
Prior to the 4 p.m. LSU-Georgia game, Bertman's jersey No. 15, which was retired by the university in 2001 and displayed in the original Alex Box Stadium, will be unveiled on the grandstand fascia of the new Alex Box Stadium.
Bertman's unyielding desire to succeed drove him to the pinnacle of his profession during his 18 seasons (1984-2001) as LSU's baseball coach. Bertman guided LSU to five NCAA baseball titles, and his teams drew NCAA-record crowds to the original Alex Box Stadium. He also served as head coach of the 1996 U.S. Olympic team which captured the bronze medal in Atlanta.
Bertman continues to be honored for his remarkable coaching tenure, as he has been inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
LSU, riding a six-game win streak, is ranked fourth this week by Collegiate Baseball, the NCBWA and USA Today/ESPN. The Tigers are No. 5 in this week's Baseball America poll.
The Tigers' four-game homestand this week begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when the Tigers take on Binghamton. The Tigers then play host to Georgia in a three-game SEC series at 7:30 p.m. CT Friday, 4 p.m. CT Saturday and Noon CT Sunday.
