SHREVEPORT, La. - LSU and Northwestern State will meet on March 10 at Fair Grounds Field in Shreveport, NSU and Shreveport-Bossier Captains officials announced Wednesday.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m., and tickets for the game go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday.
For information on tickets, visit www.sbcaptains.com, or call the Fair Grounds Field office at (318) 636-5555.
The game was originally scheduled to be played on campus at Natchitoches, but the Captains and NSU officials worked out a deal to bring the game to Fair Grounds Field.
"As much as hosting this game in Natchitoches would have been positive for our campus and community, when the chance to play the game in the Shreveport-Bossier market emerged, there were just too many reasons to not consider and, ultimately, to make the move to Fair Grounds Field," NSU Athletic Director Greg Burke said. The NSU Athletic Department is grateful to Craig Brasfield and the Captains organization for making this wonderful opportunity possible and we are excited about the chance to play in their newly renovated stadium. Appreciation is also in order to LSU coach Paul Mainieri and his team for being flexible enough to agree to the move."
"Coach Mainieri has maintained all along that it is his intention to help in-state baseball programs by traveling to play at their locales and the additional funds realized by playing this game in Shreveport-Bossier will further benefit Coach J.P. Davis and the Demon baseball program," Burke added, noting that the Shreveport-Bossier area is home to over 8,000 NSU alumni and NSU's nationally renowned College of Nursing.
Local television outlet KSLA-TV (CBS, Channel 12) and the Shreveport Times newspaper have partnered with the Captains to be the college baseball series' media sponsor.
