REDSHIRT JUNIOR SEASON (2008-09)
Moved to the four position in the LSU offense under first-year coach Trent Johnson and had a first-team All-SEC season after missing almost all of the previous season after a stress fracture in his left shin and subsequent surgery forced him to miss all but the first three games of the year ... Averaged 16.3 points per game (second on the team, eighth in the SEC), 7.2 rebounds (11th in SEC), while shooting 52.2 percent from the field (224-429, 7th in the league) and 72.5 percent from the free throw line (111-153) ... Made 10-of-19 three-point field goal attempts this season including the game-winner from the top of the arc with 10 seconds to play against Kentucky at Rupp Arena (2/28) that clinched for LSU the outright SEC regular season title ... 31 games in double figures, 79 games for career ... On pace to be the all-time leader in minutes played with 3,535 entering last year, an average of 33.3 minutes per game ... Eight double-doubles this season, 16 for his career ... Career high 15 rebounds vs. Cal State Fullerton (12/2) ... Became the first player since 1995 to score 40 points in a game when he scored 41 in a double overtime win at Mississippi State (2/11) ... In that game, played 49 minutes, made 12-of-15 field goals, including both three-point attempts, 15-of-18 free throws, had 11 rebounds, five assists and no turnovers ... Had a 19-game double figure scoring streak that lasted from Dec. 31 to final game of the regular season March 8 ... Started 34-of-35 home games, ending his starting streak at LSU at 100 games when he joined with Coach Johnson in allowing the five seniors to start the final home game of the regular season.

JUNIOR SEASON (2007-08)
Season cut short after just three games due to a stress fracture in the left shin bone that finally forced him to have season-ending surgery on Nov. 29 ... Was granted a medical redshirt ... Started the first three games of the season with one game in double figures, 16 versus McNeese State (11/14) ... First two seasons earned him a spot on the team of the 2000s as part of the LSU All-Century basketball celebration.

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2006-07)
Averaged 34 minutes per game for the second-straight season, starting every game ... Averaged 14.7 points per game, 6.0 rebounds a game, 1.8 assists per game and 1.0 steals per game ... 26 games in double figures, 48 in first two years ... Six games of 20 points or more ... 10 games of 20 or more in his first two years ... Had four double doubles ... Equaled his then career high in rebounds with 12 against Louisiana Tech on Dec. 23 ... Equaled career high of six assists in Houston against Texas (12/10) ... Made 41 three-pointers, giving him 69 made for his career .... Finished season 12th in scoring in the Southeastern Conference, 13th in rebounds, eighth in field goal percentage (46.6 percent) and sixth in minutes played (34.12).

FRESHMAN SEASON (2005-06)
Averaged 34.4 minutes per game, second on the team and averaged 11.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game in the 36-game season ... 22 games scoring in double figures ... had four 20 points games, all in important games after the first of the year ... Was named the Chevrolet Player of the Game for his 12 points and six rebounds against UCLA (4-1) in the NCAA Final Four game ... With back spasms limiting his ability, Mitchell didn’t score for 39 minutes and 30 seconds at Auburn (2/18), but he was able to get open for a layup that game LSU the lead for good in the final 30 seconds of the 65-61 win ... Three double-doubles ... Got LSU on the way to its 7-0 league start, scoring 16 of his 19 points in the second half in the win at Arkansas (1-11) to open SEC play ... Named the first SEC Freshman of the Week after his performance in the opener against Southern ... Finished 16th in the SEC rebounding list and seventh in minutes played in the SEC that year.

Mitchell was a Mr. Basketball selection by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association following his outstanding career at Denham Springs High School ... Played center at Denham Springs High School for Coach Paul Smith ... Averaged 26. 9 points per game, 10 rebounds, six assists, 3.5 blocks and 2.3 steals ... Was named the Class 5A state Player of the Year, Mr. Basketball and a high school All-American by McDonald’s, Parade Magazine and EA Sports ...
