SENIOR SEASON (2009-10)
Had the SEC's top scoring game in SEC play this year with 38 against Auburn on Jan. 20, 2010 ... In that game hit a career high 15 field goals to go with four treys ... Averaged 16.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game ... Scoring average was fourth in the league, rebound average was third in the league and he averaged a league high 37.3 minutes per game ... Had career high of 18 rebounds against Southeastern Louisiana (12/14) ... Had nine games of 20 points or more in his final seasons and 27 in double figures (106 for career) ... Set LSU records for career minutes played (4,692), games started (136) and games played in career (137) ... 12 double doubles, 28 for his career ... Had a four-game span scoring over 20 points - 26 vs. Louisiana-Lafayette (12/1), 24 vs. Northwestern State, 24 vs. Southeastern; 27 vs. Nicholls State (12/17) ... It marked the first time an LSU player had four consecutive 20-plus point games since Marcus Thornton had six straight in early 2008 ... Mitchell also had a five-game stretch in which he pulled down 10 or more rebounds, the first LSU player to do that since Glen Davis pulled down 10 or more in eight straight games in Feb. 2006 ... Finished his career third in scoring (1,989), sixth in rebounds (950), fifth in field goals made (762), eighth in steals (190) and 10th in assists ... Only game he didn't start in his career was senior night 2009 when he deferred his starting spot to allow the five seniors to start.
REDSHIRT JUNIOR SEASON (2008-09)
Moved to the four position in the LSU offense and had a first-team All-SEC season after missing almost all of the previous season with a stress fracture in his left shin and subsequent surgery forced him to miss all but the first three games of the year ... Averaged 16.3 points per game (eighth in the SEC), 7.2 rebounds (11th in the SEC), while shooting 52.2 percent from the field (224-429, 7th in the league) and 72.5 percent from the free throw line (111-153) ....Made 10-of-19 three-point field goal attempts this season including the game-winning from the top of the arc with 10 seconds to play against Kentucky at Rupp Arena (2/28) that clinched for LSU the outright SEC regular season title ... Became the first player since 1995 to score 40 points in a game when he scored 41 in a double overtime win at Mississippi State (2/11) ... In that game, played 49 minutes, made 12-of-15 field goals, including both three-point attempts, 15-of-18 free throws, had 11 rebounds, five assists and no turnovers ... Ended his starting streak at LSU at 100 consecutive games when he stepped aside in final game of regular season to allow five seniors to start.
JUNIOR SEASON (2007-08)
Season cut short after just three games due to a stress fracture in his left shin bone that finally forced him to have season-ending surgery on Nov. 29 ... Was granted a medical redshirt ... Started the first three games of the season with one game in double figures, 16 versus McNeese State (11/14) ... Performance in first two seasons earned him a spot on the team of the 2000s as part of the LSU All-Century basketball celebration.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2006-07)
Averaged 34 minutes per game for the second-straight season, starting every game ... Averaged 14.7 points per game, 6.0 rebounds a game, 1.8 assists per game and 1.0 steals per game ... 26 games in double figures .... Six games of 20 points or more ... had four double doubles ... Made 41 three-pointers .... Finished season 12th in scoring in the SEC, 13th in rebounds, eighth in field goal percentage (46.6 percent) and sixth in minutes played (34.1).
FRESHMAN SEASON (2005-06)
Averaged 34.4 minutes per game, second on the team and averaged 11.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists a game in the 36-game season ... 22 games scoring in double figures ... Had four 20 points games .. Was named the Chevrolet Player of the Game for his 12 points and six rebounds against UCLA (4-1) in the NCAA Final Four semifinals ... With back spasms limiting ability, Mitchell didn't score for 39 minutes and 30 second at Auburn (2/18), but he was able to get open for a layup that gave LSU the lead for good in the final 30 seconds of the 65-61 win ... Three double-doubles ... Named the first SEC Freshman of the Week after his performance in the opener against Southern (19 pts-12 reb) ... Finished 16th in the SEC in rebounding and seventh in minutes played.

Mitchell was a Mr. Basketball selection by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association following his outstanding career at Denham Springs High School ... Played center at Denham Springs High School for Coach Paul Smith .... Averaged 26.9 points per game, 10 rebounds, six assists, 3.5 blocks and 2.3 steals ... Was named the Class 5A state Player of the Year, Mr. Basketball and a high school All-American by McDonald's, Parade Magazine and EA Sports ... Rated 20th best high school senior of 2005 by recruiting website rivalshoops.com ... Two-time prep All-American, four-time first-team Class 5A All-State, four-time first-team All-District, four-time Parish MVP, Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year.
