BATON ROUGE, La. – Sophomore Kara Kopcso is in Maui, Hawaii, to represent the United States at the Junior Pacific Championships Aug. 27-30.

The championships consist of juniors from Canada, Japan, Australia and the United States. Kopcso will compete in the 100 fly and 200 fly over the course of the five days of competition. Live results and video will be available at usaswimming.org.

“This is a great opportunity for Kara to compete in Hawaii at the championships,” LSU swimming coach Dave Geyer said. “It’s going to be great experience at the international level, and it will benefit her progression down the road.”

The Mandeville, Louisiana native qualified individually for NCAA Championships, was named to the SEC All-Freshmen team, and set school records in the 200 butterfly and 800 freestyle relay in her first year on campus.
