BATON ROUGE – Not only did the LSU gymnastics team complete one of the finest seasons in school history in 2014, the squad also performed exceptionally well in the classroom as nine Tigers earned distinction as Scholastic All-Americans, the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced Tuesday.

Rheagan Courville, Kaleigh Dickson, Casey Duvall, Sydney Ewing, Lainie Fleming, Michelle Gauthier, Lloimincia Hall, Jessie Jordan and Sarie Morrison received the honor after maintaining at least a 3.50 grade point average for the 2013-14 academic school year.

LSU nearly tied the school record of 10 Scholastic All-Americans set in 1998, and as a team the Tigers posted a 3.2982 collective GPA during the outstanding 2014 campaign.

Gauthier led the way with a 4.00 GPA in kinesiology, one of only 63 gymnasts across the country to maintain a perfect GPA.

Fleming, a fifth-year senior in 2014, became the first LSU gymnast to earn five NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors in a career. Fleming graduated Summa Cum Laude in May with a degree in microbiology, and she has already started classes at LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans.

Duvall closed out her four-year career with a fourth Scholastic All-America honor, and she graduated Cum Laude in May with a degree in biology.

Dickson wrapped up her LSU career by earning her second Scholastic All-America honor, and she did it while pursuing her master’s in mass communication.

Morrison, who graduated in August, ended her career in stellar fashion after she received her first Scholastic All-America award this year to go along with athletic All-America honors on vault and bars in 2014.

This is the second career honor for Courville, Hall and Jordan as each earned the distinction as sophomores in 2013.

It marks the first award for Ewing who completed her freshman season in 2014.

Overall, LSU has now produced 125 NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors since 1991, combining with LSU’s 146 athletic All-America honors to give the Tigers one of the most well-rounded gymnastics programs in the nation.
