DUPONT, Wash. – LSU sophomore women’s golfer Carly Ray Goldstein posted an even-par 72 in the first round of qualifying Monday for match play in the 2014 USGA Women’s Amateur Public Links championship at The Home Course.

Goldstein is in a tie for 18th place after the first of two rounds of qualifying that will determine the field of 64 for match play that begins on Wednesday.

Entering the second round, 3-over par is the 64th spot in the field of 156.

On Monday, Goldstein started on the 10th hole and birdied three holes to turn at 2-under par and held that with pars on the first six holes of her second night. But bogeys on the seventh and eighth holes put her back at even par to conclude the round.

Cindy Ha, a freshman to be at Vanderbilt, leads the qualifying at 5-under par 67.

Goldstein goes off at 2:30 p.m. CT in the second round.
