BATON ROUGE -- The LSU Men's Swimming and Diving team (3-1, 2-1 SEC) will compete against Southern Methodist University on Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. (CT) in the Perkins Natatorium.

"It is another opportunity for us to fine tune our racing," Swimming Coach Dave Geyer said. "I think it will be a great dual meet. SMU lines up with us very well. It is a neat and older facility with six lanes and fast water. It will be a fun meet. I am excited to take our men there and compete against them."

Earlier this season, LSU finished first at the Phil Hansel Invitational with a score of 1047.50 against Wyoming, SMU and Texas A&M. SMU finished in third with a score of 871.50.

"At this point of the season, everything that we do from here on out is focused on the Southeastern Conference Championships, the Zone Diving Regionals and the NCAA Championships," Diving Coach Doug Shaffer said. "SMU is a step in that process. We want to go in and continue to refine the competitive skills on our lists. We want to challenge ourselves by competing in a different environment, a different pool and against a different team."

The men's swimming team is fresh off of a 155-107 victory over Kentucky.  Thus far this season, five men's swimmers have earned NCAA provincial cuts in nine events. The following athletes and their times are detailed below.

In the distance events, senior Craig Hamilton has posted season bests in the 500 freestyle (4:22.77) and the 1650 freestyle (15:11.87).

The sprint duo of junior Michael Saco and senior Andrei Tuomola have each registered season bests of 20.18 and 20.25, respectively, in the 50 free. Tuomola's 100 breaststroke mark of 54.73 also earned him a NCAA 'B' cut.

Junior Ricardo Alvarado Jimenez has notched a season best of 54.82 in the 100 breast.

Sophomore Frank Greeff has swam a pair of impressive times in the 100 butterfly (48.16) and the 200 butterfly (1:46.28).

In diving, the men's divers finished in the top-12 or in the finals eight times at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. Three of the men's divers have qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Regionals.

Earlier this season, junior Sean McKinney set the LSU all-time three-meter record with a score of 415.50.

Junior Daniel Helm has posted a season best three-meter score of 375.60, which is less than five points off of his career best.

Junior Kevin Leong is third on the team on the one-meter and on the three-meter this season.
