Seven of 12 Gym Meets to be Televised in 2013
BATON ROUGE - Seven LSU gymnastics meets, including four home meets, will be televised in 2013 after Cox Sports Television (CST) announced Friday they will carry the Sixth Annual Etta James Memorial Meet against Alabama on March 8.
The seven televised meets ties the LSU single-season record set in 2011 when seven regular-season meets appeared on TV.
Last week the Southeastern Conference announced six meets featuring the Tigers would be televised with the ESPN family of networks picking up LSU's meet at Alabama on Jan. 18, the home meet against Georgia on March 1 and the SEC Championship on March 23. FSN will air the home meet against Florida on Jan. 11 and the meet at Auburn on Feb. 22. CST will broadcast the home meet against Arkansas on Feb. 15 and the Alabama meet.
"Being able to showcase our arena, our team and the level of competitiveness within the SEC on TV adds to the buzz that we work every day to create around our team," LSU head coach D-D Breaux said. "Knowing that we will have that many opportunities to showcase ourselves and our university is a positive thing for recruiting. TV is a huge part of getting the word out about our team and keeping the buzz going."
Four of five home meets this season are scheduled for TV, including the nationally-televised contest against Georgia on ESPNU.
All televised meets will air on a tape-delay basis.
Season tickets are available by visiting www.LSUtix.net, calling the LSU Ticket Office at 225-578-2184 or in person at the ticket office on the first floor of the Athletic Administration Building. Season tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 3-12.
