BATON ROUGE - LSU women's tennis head coach Tony Minnis announced Monday that East Lake High School standout Rebecca Bodine has signed a national letter of intent and will join the Lady Tigers for the 2011-12 season.

Bodine, a blue-chip recruit out of Tarpon Springs, Fla., was ranked as the 10th-best tennis prospect in the nation and was the top-rated player in the state of Florida back in 2008, according to tennisrecruiting.net.

"I'm really excited to have Rebecca join our program," Minnis said. "She's a really accomplished junior tennis player. She's battled back from some injuries but I'm looking forward to seeing her college career."

The 5-foot-10-inch right-hander compiled a 13-7 record in high school, including a 2-2 record versus five-star recruits and a 6-2 mark against four-star players. In 2008 she advanced to the semifinals at the USTA Girls 16 National Clay Court Championships, finishing fourth and earning a silver ball.

Bodine will be one of two freshmen on the 2011-12 Lady Tiger squad, which currently boasts eight returning letter winners.
