BATON ROUGE -- LSU picked up another top five preseason ranking on Tuesday as Street and Smith’s College Football 2007 Yearbook has ranked the Tigers No. 4 in the nation in its preseason edition, which hit the news stands on Tuesday.
LSU has now been picked as one of the nation’s top four ranked teams by five publications going into the 2007 season, which includes No. 2 rankings by the Sporting News, Blue Ribbon Magazine and Lindy’s.
The Tigers open their third season under Les Miles on Thursday, Aug. 30 against Mississippi State in Starkville in a game that will be televised nationally by ESPN.
LSU returns 15 starters and 46 letterwinners from last year’s squad that posted an 11-2 overall mark, beat Notre Dame, 41-14, in the Sugar Bowl, and finished ranked No. 3 in the nation.
