BATON ROUGE -- LSU coach Les Miles recapped the Tigers' 49-0 win over Kentucky on Sunday with a media briefing. The win pushed the Tigers record to 5-2 overall as LSU pitched its first shutout since a 24-0 victory over Appalachian State last year.

The following is a look at some of Miles’ comments on LSU’s performance against Kentucky:

Opening Statement
"I enjoyed watching the film. I felt like our football team played much better. There is still work to do if we are going to be the team that we want to be not only this week but in the future. We are looking to do that. It is nice to see (Craig) Buster Davis return punts. He fielded them well with the opportunity to get down the field and gain some yards. Our kickoff team was darn near perfect."

On Craig Davis returning punts ...
“He has the ability to do it certainly with his quickness. We kept a lot of guys back there really since the first game to keep them in form and getting them better. He certainly is one of those guys. We started talking about him actually fielding punts about three weeks into the season."

On the team's injury status ...
"There was nothing more than the usual -- bumps and bruises. Nobody came off the field. I did not necessarily think that we would play him (Keith Zinger). We are waiting to see if he gets a little bit better. I think the chances are really good for both Brandon LaFell and Daniel Francis to play (this week)."

On Jacob Hester and the starting running back position ...
"He's one of the guys who take the snaps, and we certainly think that he can handle that position very well. I look at a number of guys who are starters and it really depends on who gets the nod. He's done a great job and certainly is deserving."

On who else will return punts ...
"Chevis (Jackson) is one guy and some young guys. Jared Mitchell also has got ability but his thumb is a little nicked. I think in the future maybe a guy like Jai Eugene or some of those other guys might step forward. Trindon (Holliday) has got to get comfortable with receiving the punt. As soon as that happens then he can be a punt return guy.”

On the team's improvement since the Florida game ...
"Our team has gotten tested by some other teams in this league, but we have really been dominant across the board. On offense, defense and special teams, there was very much specific improvement in a number of areas."
