BATON ROUGE -- LSU coach Les Miles meet with members of the media following the Tigers 48-17 win over Mississippi State on Saturday afternoon in Tiger Stadium. Here’s a transcript of Miles' comments from the Sunday briefing:

Opening Statement

"We are starting games well, coming out and getting after our opponent. Offense, defense and special teams are playing well. We scored our first five possessions against Mississippi State. I like the way we have started in each of our games this year. It’s a process that starts in practice. Our team practices hard each week and comes out on Saturday aggressive and ready to play. This team likes to play football and I think it shows.”

On the running game ...
"They have to honor the run or they will gang up on the pass. Right now, they are certainly honoring the pass which should give us some opportunities to run the football better. That is the ideal fix. There are certain times in the game that you must be able to throw the ball or run it on the ground."

On the advantages against Mississippi State ...
"We felt like we had some advantages throwing the football. We felt like the match-up was one that favored us."

On the wide receivers ...
"They are our big playmakers in this offense. Certainly, for us to have a big day on offense, those three guys (Dwayne Bowe, Craig Davis, Early Doucet) have to come to play and play fast. The way those guys are approaching practice and the games is really good. They are working hard. They understand the gameplan. They are comfortable with the plays that are called. They have improved this year. All three of those guys have improved and for that matter, (Brandon) LaFell. Those three are very good receivers and a very strong receiving core."

On using a running quarterback ...
"Things that different quarterbacks can give you, what does it cost you? When we take a guy out of the game like JaMarcus (Russell), what advantage or what disadvantages does that give you? It is hard pressed to say that there is an advantage of taking him off the field at this point. Tim Tebow is a very good ball carrier who runs a very specific piece of the offense and runs it very well."

On tight ends Keith Zinger and Richard Dickson ...
"I think there are advantages to both guys. They both can play and block. Zinger is just more experienced and more capable in a couple of positions."

On Florida quarterback Chris Leak ...
"They have changed some in their offensive scheme it appears -- a little bit more traditional, a little bit more two-back. I think he has a strong arm. He can move his feet. He is very competitive. You have to keep him corralled."
