BATON ROUGE -- After recording the second fastest 200-meter time in the history of the world last week, former Tiger sprint standout Xavier Carter was named the U.S. Olympic Athlete of the Week by USATODAY.com.
Carter ran a scorching 19.63 to win the first 200 meter race of his professional career at the Athletissima Super Grand Prix in Lausanne, Switzerland. The time, which shattered his previous personal best of 20.02, stands behind only Michael Johnson’s world record and Olympic gold medal-winning performance of 19.32 in the sport’s history.
Carter returns to action next week when he travels to Stockholm, Sweden, for the DN Galan on Tuesday, July 25. Three days later he will take part in the London Grand Prix.
