BATON ROUGE -- LSU coach Les Miles will put the Tigers through their first major scrimmage of spring practice here on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Tiger Stadium.

Saturday’s workout will be the ninth of the 15 scheduled practices for the Tigers during spring training. Spring practice will culminate with the annual LSU Spring Game at 5 p.m. on April 18.

Saturday’s scrimmage will be scripted and will have the 1s going against the 2s on both offense and defense. The third team will get their share of snaps as well.

“We want to see guys play,” Miles said of the scrimmage. “Or veterans are improved and we need to close the gap between good and great. We want that improvement and our young guys that are making their way to the field are showing their skills and they have to have the opportunity to compete. Those things are being facilitated this Saturday. We are looking for guys to show us.”

Miles said all four quarterbacks who are currently participating in spring practice will see snaps on Saturday.

“All four will have the opportunity to play,” Miles said. “One quarterback may take a snap or two at another position.”

After Saturday, the Tigers are scheduled to practice three times next week before taking a week off for spring break.
