BATON ROUGE -- LSU free safety LaRon Landry earned a spot on another preseason All-America team on Tuesday as Blue Ribbon Magazine tabbed the senior defender to its first team.
Landry has also been named preseason First-Team All-America by both Lindy’s and Athlon Sports and he was a second-team selection by the Sporting News.
Landry, who enters his fourth season as a starter in the secondary for the Tigers, has 241 career tackles to his credit along with 12.5 sacks and nine interceptions. Dating back to the 2003 season, Landry has started in 35 straight games.
Landry earned third-team All-America honors from the Associated Press following the 2005 season as well as being a first-team all-conference pick. He was named second-team All-SEC in both 2003 and 2004.
Landry is one of four players from the Southeastern Conference on Blue Ribbon’s First-Team All-America squad. Landry is joined by fellow SEC players in offensive lineman Arron Sears from Tennessee, defensive lineman Quentin Moses from Georgia and linebacker Patrick Willis of Ole Miss.
In addition, Blue Ribbon Magazine has named Landry, along with junior offensive guard Will Arnold, to its All-SEC team.
LSU opens the 2006 season on Sept. 2 when the Tigers host Louisiana-Lafayette in Tiger Stadium.
