BATON ROUGE -- LSU football ticket holders contributed $117,900 to the LSU Hurricane Student Relief Fund, with the funds resulting from the move of a football game against Arizona State last fall.

"LSU fans have been generous from Day One in their response to the impact of the hurricanes efforts, and this is another example of their participation in the recovery efforts," said LSU athletic director Skip Bertman.

"This generous donation from LSU ticket holders is yet another indication of the contribution that LSU Athletics makes to the university and the community," said LSU Chancellor Sean O'Keefe.

LSU's game against Arizona State was moved from Tiger Stadium to Tempe, Ariz., last September in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Tickets holders to that game were offered the opportunity to donate their ticket refund to the LSU Hurricane Relief Fund.

Ticket holders also had the option of taking the refund, crediting the refund toward their purchase of tickets in 2006, or leaving the funds with LSU.

In addition to the money donated by LSU ticket holders, the LSU vs. Arizona State game in Tempe generated over $1.1 million for hurricane relief efforts.
