BATON ROUGE – LSU women’s basketball head coach Nikki Fargas has announced that Sharna Ayres will join the Lady Tigers’ program in the Fall of 2019. Ayres is transferring to LSU from Marquette.

“I am really excited about the addition of Sharna to our program,” said Fargas. “She will bring an offensive threat with deep range. This lefty sharp-shooter will only add to the offensive punch we have returning. Sharna is a tireless worker with a high basketball IQ. We’re happy that she will be a part of the Lady Tiger family.”

Ayres spent one semester at Marquette before making the move to Baton Rouge where she will have four years of eligibility. The 5-11 guard is from Melbourne, Australia and came to the States in January.

Ayres attended the State School Victoria in Melbourne, where she was a two-time All-Australian State School Team selection. She was a member of the U18 Victorian Metro State Team and named State School Victoria Female Basketballer of the Year. She was invited to the Australian Developmental Camp and played for U19 Australian Team Camp. Ayres helped the Diamond Valley Eagles to a state championship and did her secondary education studies at Box Hill Senior Secondary College.
