SUNSET, S.C. – The LSU women’s golf team posted its second-lowest round of the season on Monday at 1-over 289 during Round 2 of the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, South Carolina. The Tigers are now even for the tournament and in sixth place headed into Tuesday’s final round.

“It’s always nice when you shoot your lowest round of the year to start a tournament, but it is another to back it up,” said LSU first-year head coach Garrett Runion. “And today we backed it up with our second-lowest round of the year which is almost more impressive. We’ve put ourselves in good position to have a great tournament with another good round tomorrow.”

Upperclassmen Kathleen Gallagher and Monica Dibildox continue to lead the squad through two rounds and are ranked in the Top 20. Gallagher, a senior, shot 2-under for the second day in a row and is tied for eighth place at 4-under for the tournament at 140. Dibildox, a junior, shot a 1-over 73 in Round 2. She is tied for 18th place at 1-under 143.

Freshman Presley Baggett shot even 72 on the day and is 1-over for the tournament. Fellow rookie Alden Wallace shot a 2-over for the second consecutive round and is 4-over for the tournament. Sophomore Kendall Griffin shot 5-over for the second round.

“Kathleen was able to back up her good round of 70 yesterday with another round of 70,” said Runion. “Presley fought hard after her first round to shoot par today. I know our ladies are motivated to Geaux Low tomorrow and finish strong.”

LSU will be paired up with No. 44 Tennessee and Texas A&M for Round 3. The Tigers will tee off at 7:54 a.m. CT from Hole No. 1. No. 7 Vanderbilt holds on to the lead by shooting 11-under in the round and 21-under for two rounds.. Live scoring will be available at GolfStat.com.
