Girouard Claims Javelin Title at Louisiana Classics

Lafayette, La. – Andre Girouard threw the javelin a personal-best distance of 213’ 8” on Friday at the Ragin’ Cajuns Track Complex to claim his first title of the 2019 season.
Girouard’s throw led LSU to a one-two finish in the event with freshman Eli Gaughan taking second in his first ever collegiate meet with a toss of 203’ 8”. Noel Baker, a sophomore, opened her season with silver in the javelin with a mark of 143’ 7”.
Amber Desselle closed out day one of competition with a time of 38:49.66 in the 10,000 meter run to finish second.
Day two of the meet begins on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CT with Amy Stelly in the pole vault.
