Barbaree's 3-Under 68 Highlights Round 2 in Cabo

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico – Philip Barbaree fired the low round of the day for the No. 12 LSU men’s golf team at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate. Barbaree, a junior from Shreveport, scored a 3-under 68 to improve his positioning by 18 spots into a tie for 26th. LSU fired a team total of 2-over par 286 to remain tied for seventh at 7-over par 575 (289-286). No. 1 Oklahoma State leads the team competition at 22-under 546 (277-269).
Barbaree, who started his round on hole No. 8, had four birdies on the day. He birdied No. 10, No. 14, No. 17 and No. 4 bunched around 11 pars, but a bogey on No. 6 brought his round tally back to 3-under. He finished off the round with a par on No. 7 for a 3-under 68. Barbaree’s two-round total is 1-over 143 (T26th).
Luis Gagne followed his opening round score of 2-under 69 with a 1-over 72 to sit at 1-under 141 after 36 holes of play. The senior from Costa Rica is tied for 18th after his second round that included three birdies, 11 pars and four bogeys.
Garrett Barber’s final score in round two was the same as Gagne’s, a 1-over 72. Barber got off to a slow start as he was at 4-over through eight holes, but he rebounded nicely in the final 10 holes of the day with three birdies and seven pars. Barber is in a tie for 35th at 4-over 146 (74-72).
Nathan Jeansonne shot a second round tally of 3-over 74. Pair that with his opening round 71 and he sits in a tie for 32nd place at 3-over 145. Michael Sanders shot a second-round score of 5-over par 76; he is in 55th place after 36 holes at 10-over 152 (76-76).
LSU will begin play at 9 a.m. CT on Tuesday for the final round of play alongside Florida State, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss. Gagne will go off hole No. 5, Barbaree off six, Jeansonne off seven, Barber off eight and Sanders off No. 9.
