Tigers Sweep Events Again on Day 2 At Auburn

Auburn, Ala. – The LSU diving team repeated yesterday’s performance as they swept the events on the second day of the Auburn Diving Invitational. Juan Celaya-Hernandez won the three-meter springboard while Lizzie Cui won the one-meter springboard.
“Today was a very good day on springboard,” said diving head coach Doug Shaffer. “We competed very well, and I am seeing the progress that I want to see at this time in the season. The men as a group were particularly strong on three-meter. We are looking forward to our final day on platform.”
Celaya-Hernandez led the men, winning the three-meter springboard with a score of 447.30. He won the event by over 25 points.
Matt McClellan made the podium for the second consecutive day, following up yesterday’s win with a third-place finish, diving to a score of 387.90.
Matt Phillip and Dakota Hurbis finished in fourth and ninth overall with scores of 348.20 and 316.15, respectively.
On the women’s side, Lizzie Cui won her second event in as many days, taking the one-meter springboard crown, diving to a score of 318.80.
Jolie Blodgett finished eighth overall, scoring 235.65.
The Auburn Diving Invitational finishes tomorrow at 11 a.m. as both the men and women will compete on platform.
