BATON ROUGE—The LSU women’s tennis team picked up where it left off Friday, playing with a lot of heart as three doubles pairs earned wins and the Tigers took home three singles wins on Day 2 of the Tiger Fall Classic at the LSU Tennis Complex Saturday.

Day 3 of the Tiger Fall Classic begins Sunday at 9 a.m. CST. There will be two flights of singles played between LSU, UCF,

Boston College, Northwestern and SMU. Gates to the LSU Tennis Complex open one hour prior to competition, and admission is free.

Live video and stats will be available for Sunday’s matches at www.lsusports.net/tennisvideo. Additional live stats will be available at LSUstats.com.

“I felt like there is a lot of stuff that we need to work on,” co-head coach Julia Sell said. “We strayed a little bit from the things we do best. We had a good talk, and I think we are going to see some changes tomorrow. Now is the time of year where you have to make those changes.”

The Lady Tigers started off the day with three convincing doubles wins.

Sophomore Taylor Bridges and junior Pairs Corley defeated the Knights duo of Natalia Serrano and Domenlka Turkovic, 6-3.

Freshman Marina Hermanny de Figuieredo and sophomore Luba Vasilyuk secured two doubles wins by a score of 7-5. The first one came against Northwestern’s Carol Finke and Vanessa Stong, and the second victory was against Northwestern’s Inci Ogut and Rheeya Doshi.

Following doubles, the Tigers secured three singles wins against Boston College.

Senior Kennan Johnson fell in the first set to Dasha Possokhova, 0-6, but rallied to take the second 6-2 and force it into a deciding third set. Resiliently, she clinched the match blanking her opponent, 6-0.

Luba Vasilyuk and Paris Corley also won their singles matches. Vasilyuk defeated Marion Conklin in two sets, 6-4, 6-3. Corley worked a straight-set win against SMU’s Katherine Jakeway 6-2, 6-3.
