Volleyball Continues Road Trip, Faces Alabama Sunday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After getting back on the winning track with a sweep of Mississippi State Friday, the LSU volleyball team (8-14, 3-8 SEC) continues its road trip, facing Alabama (18-8, 5-7 SEC) Sunday in Tuscaloosa at 1 p.m. CT.
The match will stream live on SEC Network+. The match will also be available via live stats at LSUStats.com.
LSU owns a 35-28 edge against the Crimson Tide. The Tigers defeated Alabama at home last season, but fell on the road. The last time the Tigers beat the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa was in 2011.
>> LSU got back on the winning track on Friday with a dominating sweep of Mississippi State by scores of 25-21, 25-12, 25-16.
>> Taylor Bannister and Toni Rodriguez combined for 27 kills with 14 and 13 kills, respectively. Rodriguez finished with a career-high .591 hitting percentage. Raigen Cianciulli led the back row with 12 digs. The Tiger outblocked Mississippi State 4.0-1.0.
>> Bannister is ranked fourth among the league in kills per set at 4.31. She is also fourth in points per set at 4.80.
>> Raigen Cianciulli was named SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Oct. 15 after picking up a team-high 47 digs in two matches last week, including 28 against Georgia, the ninth-most digs in a four-set match in program history.
>> Cianciulli recorded 30 digs in the four sets against Tennessee, tied for fourth-most digs in a four-set match in program history.
>> Cianciulli has a career total of 881 digs, just 119 digs away from 1,000 mark. If she reaches 1,000 this season, she’ll be the fastest player to reach the 1,000 dig club in program history.
>> Cianciulli ranks second among the league in digs per set at 4.72. The Tigers also rank second in the SEC in digs per set at 15.31.
>> The Tigers enter the season with a total of 294 SEC victories, just needing three to close in on the 300 mark after Friday’s win over Mississippi State.
