FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Freshman Alden Wallace earned the first Top-5 finish of her collegiate career as the LSU women’s golf team wrapped up the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club on Sunday. Due to weather in the area, the tournament was shortened to 36 holes with results reverting to Saturday’s scores after the Second Round.

“It is unfortunate that we didn’t get to play the third round today,” said LSU head coach Garrett Runion. “We haven’t played a round all season without a rain delay, so we are getting used to it. I am very proud of how our ladies responded after our first tournament. We took advantage of some good weather days at home and worked hard on areas we wanted to focus on for this tournament and it showed.”

Wallace shot a 4-under 68 in the second round, a new season-low for the rookie, to finish the tournament with a 5-under 139. The round of 68 ranks tied for 18th on the LSU all-time single round record list. She finished tied for fourth overall.

“There were a lot of positives for Alden and Monica,” said Runion. “Both posted the best rounds of their LSU careers.”

Junior Monica Dibildox and senior Kathleen Gallagher each shot 1-over 73. Dibildox ended up tied for 15th overall with a 1-under 143, while Gallagher finished with a 36-hole 147 for 3-over. Sophomore Kendall Griffin added to the team scoring with a 156 over the two rounds.

“Kathleen also showed her experience by battling back,” said Runion. “She battled back in the first round to keep us relevant in the tournament and allowed us to make a charge in the second round.”

The team ended up tied for sixth with a score of 585. Host Vanderbilt won the tournament with a 559.

LSU returns to action at the Magnolia Invitational on Sunday, October 14 in West Point, Mississippi.
