Head Coach Paul Mainieri on CJ Willis:
"Unfortunately, CJ will begin this fall on the disabled list as the result of an injury he suffered during his senior year of high school. However, once he heals and is ready to go, everyone will be able to see an extremely talented and versatile baseball player. To begin with, CJ can really swing the bat from the left side. The ball jumps off his bat, and he can be an impact hitter. Secondly, he is in the development stages as a catcher, but has the potential to become a very athletic player behind the dish. He can also play both corner infield positions, as well as both corner outfield positions. At some point, his bat will force him into the lineup somewhere. We have to be patient with CJ and let him fully heal, and then we will get a good look at him in the spring."
