Rotations Announced for 2018 NCAA Championships
Assistant Communications Director
BATON ROUGE – Rotations for semifinal I and II of the 2018 NCAA Championships held on Friday, April 20 in St. Louis, Missouri, have been announced.
No. 2 LSU (27-1) will compete in the first semifinal at noon CT in Chaifetz Arena. The meet will be televised live on ESPN2 with Bart Conner, Kathy Johnson Clarke, and Laura Rutledge on the call.
All rotations were predetermined by random draw last summer. As the first-place finisher in the top of the bracket, the Tigers will open on beam before going to a bye. The squad will then compete on floor and vault before its final bye. LSU will close the meet on bars.
LSU will compete against No. 3 UCLA, No. 6 Alabama, No. 10 Arkansas, No. 11 Nebraska, and No. 18 Georgia. The evening semifinal features No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 4 Utah, No. 5 Florida, No. 8 Washington, No. 9 Cal, and No. 12 Kentucky.
The top three teams from each NCAA Semifinal will advance to the last ever Super Six at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 21. LSU will be competing for its seventh Super Six appearance and third in a row. The Tigers, under the direction of head coach D-D Breaux have finished as the NCAA National Runners-Up the past two seasons.
Individual event and all-around national champions will also be determined during the semifinal competition. LSU has 13 individual national champions in its history. In 2017, Ashleigh Gnat won the floor title, junior Sarah Finnegan won the program’s first bars title, and sophomore Kennedi Edney became the first freshman in school history to win a national championship after winning vault.
Fans may purchase general admission tickets through the LSU Ticket Office. Tickets are $71. All fans can order by calling the office at (225)578-2184 during our regular business hours.
Fans can follow the Tigers on the team’s social media channels: @LSUgym on Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat, www.Facebook.com/lsugym and at YouTube.com/lsugymnastics.
