Track & Field Wraps Day One At Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – LSU freshman Jake Norris won the men’s hammer throw for the second week in a row on Friday afternoon. Norris won the event with a personal-best 238’ 6’’ (72.70m) at the Pac-12/Big Ten Invitational, hosted by Arizona State. His efforts place him among LSU’s best with the No. 2 mark in school history.
Norris’ third toss paced all preliminary marks to qualify for the finals, and he won the event by 23 feet and three inches.
For the men’s javelin throw, Andre Girouard recorded a season-best of 184’ 9’’ (56.32m) on his first throw, qualifying for the event finals, where he finished seventh overall.
On the women’s side in the javelin throw, freshman Noel Baker finished 12th overall with a throw of 132’ 6” (40.40m) in her first attempt of the evening.
