LSU Falls in Game Two of Kentucky Series

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The eighth-ranked LSU softball team fell in game two of the three-game series to No. 24/23 Kentucky, 2-0 Sunday afternoon at John Cropp Stadium. The Tigers are now 23-4 on the year and 3-2 in the SEC. Kentucky improves to 19-6 and 2-3 in conference play.

The Tigers pounded out five hits on the game and had chances to move runners. Emily Griggs drew a walk in the first inning and Michaela Schlattman singled with two outs but the two were left on base.

LSU had another chance in the fourth as Amber Serrett singled up the middle with two outs and advanced to second on Becca Schulte’s single through the left side.

Kentucky got their first run in the fourth inning off LSU starter Allie Walljasper and tacked on another run in the sixth to take a 2-0 lead.

Walljasper took the loss in the circle, dropping to 10-2 on the year. She allowed two runs and struck out one in her six innings. Autumn Humes earned the victory for the Wildcats, improving to 5-1 on the year. She struck out seven and allowed five hits in seven innings. 

>> Griggs, Schlattman, Serrett, Schulte and Antoine all put together a hit for the Tigers.

LSU will play the series finale Monday in Lexington at 4:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. ET (was previously scheduled for 6 p.m. CT) on SEC Network.
