COLUMBUS, Ohio – At the 2018 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, junior Lizzie Cui finished 12th overall on one-meter springboard and earned Honorable Mention All-America honors today at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.

“Lizzie performed two very solid lists today,” said LSU diving coach Doug Shaffer. “She was very competitive throughout the 2.5 hour preliminaries. The competition is elite and the scores were very tight today. If she was a little sharper on her entries, Lizzie could very well have made the A-final.”

Cui started the day with a score of 287.00 in the prelims, which put her in 14th place and earned a spot in the consolation final.

In the consolation finals, Cui improved on her prelims score, finishing fourth with a score of 295.60 to claim 12th overall.

This is Cui’s third All-America honor. The Auckland, New Zealand native was an Honorable Mention All-American on three-meter in 2016 and a First Team All-American on one-meter in 2017.

“I know she is not satisfied with her performance knowing she can do better, but that’s not a bad thing looking forward to three-meter tomorrow,” explained Shaffer. “In perspective, it’s a good day one, Sweet Sixteen finish to put it in March Madness terms.”
