BATON ROUGE – Joe Gibbs, who led the Washington Redskins to three Super Bowl titles as head coach, will serve as the headline speaker at this year’s LSU Football Coaching Clinic, head coach Ed Orgeron announced.

The LSU Football Coaching Clinic will take place on April 5-6 at the Maravich Center on the LSU campus.

Registration for the clinic can be done online at www.LSUsports.net/coachesclinic. The fee for the clinic is $65, which includes a barbeque social on Thursday night followed by a crawfish boil on Friday evening. Breakfast and lunch will also be served on Friday.

Gibbs, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1996, became the first coach in NFL history to lead a franchise to three Super Bowl titles with three different starting quarterbacks (Joe Theismann, Mark Rypien, and Doug Williams).

Gibbs won 154 games during his 16-year career with the Redskins, leading Washington to the playoffs 10 times and to the Super Bowl on four occasions.

“Joe Gibbs is a coaching legend and to have him join us as our keynote speaker for our coaching clinic is something that we will all benefit from,” Orgeron said. “Our goal each year is to bring high school and college coaches together to share ideas and promote our great game. The group of speakers that we have assembled this year will do just that. It’s going to be two great days of teaching and learning football.”

Gibbs will address the clinic at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 5 on the main stage at the Maravich Center.

Other highlights of the clinic include featured speaker Jake Delhomme, the former NFL quarterback and Louisiana High School standout. Delhomme, who quarterbacked the Carolina Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2004, will address the coaches at 11:15 a.m. on Friday at the Maravich Center.

This year’s LSU Coaching Clinic will also feature presentations from head coaches at Southern, McNeese State, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Tulane. Assistant coaches from Louisiana Tech, Nicholls, Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State, Louisiana College and Louisiana-Monroe will also present during the two day event.

The LSU Football Coaches Clinic will give participants an opportunity to see the Tigers practice on Thursday, April 5 and then watch LSU scrimmage on Saturday, April 7 in Tiger Stadium.
