Women's Tennis Climbs to No. 23 in ITA Rankings

BATON ROUGE --- The LSU women’s tennis team jumped two spots to the No. 23-ranked team in the country according to the latest rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Wednesday.

After a pair of wins in its doubleheader against Alcorn St. on Jan. 31, LSU improved to 5-1 on the season with its only loss coming to No. 22 Washington at ITA Kickoff Weekend.

Freshman Eden Richardson, ranked No. 114 in the country, leads the team in total wins with 15, followed by juniors Kennan Johnson and No. 69 Jessica Golovin with 12 wins each. Golovin currently leads the team with six dual singles wins and is in the midst of an eight-match unbeaten streak dating back to the fall.

The Tigers will return to the courts Saturday, Feb. 17 against Nicholls before competing in their third doubleheader of the season on Tuesday, Feb. 20 against Tulane and Southeastern Louisiana at the LSU Tennis Complex.
