COLLEGE STATION, Texas— The LSU men’s tennis team fought on the singles courts but were unsuccessful Sunday morning, falling 4-0 to No. 7 Texas A&M in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Then, Gabor Csonka and Nikola Samardzic earned wins in the Tigers’ second match of the day, but it was not enough as Georgia State clinched the match, 4-2, Sunday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Complex.

With the losses, LSU falls to 5-2 on the season. The Aggies improved to 2-0, and Georgia State moved to 4-3 on the season.

Due to Saturday’s postponement, the field competed in only singles play.

Co-Head Coach Chris Brandi on the Matches

“Today was a tough day and was especially disappointing in the second match,” co-head coach Chris Brandi said. “The conditions were not perfect, but we were out-competed by Georgia state, who had a much tougher match in the morning. Credit them for competing the way they did. We’ve got a long way to go, and hopefully we learn from this today and become a better team. I think everyone is excited to get back to work in practice and improve in many different areas.”
