BATON ROUGE – In what has become an early November tradition, LSU and Alabama will once again meet in primetime and on CBS, the Southeastern Conference announced on Monday.
Kickoff between the Tigers and the Crimson Tide is slated for 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 4 in Tuscaloosa. It’s the seventh straight year that LSU and Alabama will meet in primetime on CBS.
LSU and Alabama first met on CBS in primetime in 2011 when the top-ranked Tigers beat the second-ranked Crimson Tide, 9-6, in overtime in Tuscaloosa. That game set the stage for what has become the premier regular-season conference game in the SEC each year.
Last year, with the game tied a 0-0 after three quarters, Alabama scored 10 fourth quarter points to win, 10-0, in Tiger Stadium. The Crimson Tide used a late fourth quarter TD to win, 21-17, in Tiger Stadium in 2012 and in 2014, Alabama won in overtime, 20-13, in Baton Rouge.
Going back to 2005, four LSU-Alabama games have gone to overtime and seven of the contests have been decided by seven points or less.
CBS has televised the LSU-Alabama game every year since 2007 when the third-ranked Tigers beat the 17th-ranked Crimson Tide, 41-34, in Tuscaloosa. The LSU-Alabama game was played during the day on CBS from 2007 to 2010 before the contest was elevated to the primetime slot in 2011 where it has remained.
Both teams are off this week as they head into the game that will go a long way in determining who wins the SEC Western Division. LSU, winners of three straight, stands at 6-2 overall and 3-1 in league play. The Tigers are No. 23 in both the AP and the Amway Coaches polls this week.
Alabama remains undefeated and ranked No. 1 in the nation following its 45-7 win over Tennessee. The Crimson Tide stand at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference action.
