AUBURN, Ala. -- The LSU women’s tennis team will field two of the four remaining spots in the ITA Southern Regional’s doubles semifinals after another undefeated day of competition at the Yarbrough Tennis Center Saturday.

The Tigers got off to a blazing in start in doubles play once again as both tandems rattled off two straight wins to advance to Sunday’s semifinal round, improving LSU’s overall doubles record to a perfect 6-0 on the weekend.

Ryann Foster and Elyse Lavender took down the Ole Miss pairing of Allie Sanford and Cameron Kriscunas in the round of 16 by a score of 8-3 before defeating Holly Horsfall and Elsa Pool of Samford in the quarterfinals, 8-6.

Meanwhile, Kennan Johnson and Eden Richardson were on a tear of their own, defeating UNO’s Trang Dao and Anja Luethi, 8-1, before overpowering Alabama’s duo of Jacqueline Pelletier and Smith Hinton, 8-5.

In singles play, Foster advanced to the quarterfinal round of the regional for the second year in a row thanks to a 6-4, 7-6 win over Mississippi State’s Anastasia Rentouli while Richardson overcame a first set deficit to take down Savina Macholova of Ole Miss in three sets, becoming the second Tiger to advance to the final eight in singles.

In the singles backdraw, Johnson made quick work of ULM’s Karolina Snita in straight sets in the round of 16 before powering past Alabama’s Ann Selim in straight sets in the quarterfinals to clinch a spot in Sunday’s consolation semifinals.

Doubles play will resume Sunday morning at 9 a.m. CT as Foster and Lavender face off against Savina Machalova and Natalie Suk of Ole Miss and Johnson and Richardson square off against the sixth-ranked pairing of Arianne Hartono and Alexa Bortles of Ole Miss in the semifinal round.

Singles play will follow shortly after as Foster and Richardson face off against No. 60 Taylor Russo of Auburn and No. 37 Andie Daniel of Alabama, respectively, in the quarterfinals.
