Foster Wraps Up Qualifying with Win

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. --- LSU women’s tennis senior Ryann Foster dropped her opening round match in qualifying competition before advancing past two consolation rounds at the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships Tuesday.
Foster, ranked No. 66 in the Oracle/ITA preseason rankings, got off to a promising start against No. 69-ranked Emily Arbuthnott of Stanford on Tuesday, taking the first set 6-4. The Stanford sophomore fought back to take the second set 7-5, forcing a third and final set to decide the match, which went 6-2 in favor of Arbuthnott.
In the consolation round of 32, Foster advanced past No. 39 Petra Granic of Texas and then defeated Auburn’s Jaeda Daniel in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6(4).
Next up for the Tigers is the H-E-B Invitational hosted by Baylor University starting Friday, October 6, followed by the ITA Southern Regional beginning Friday, October 20.
