Lavender, Richardson Advance to Qualifying Finals

PLEASANT, S.C. --- LSU women’s tennis freshmen Elyse Lavender and Eden Richardson defeated their respective opponents in straight sets to advance past the second round of the 15K LTP/Charleston tournament Monday.
Lavender dropped just one game on the day, taking down Ana Lei Kalawe 6-1, 6-0, while Richardson handily defeated Autumn Clemons 6-3, 6-2.
Both Tiger freshmen will compete in the third and final round of qualifying on Tuesday. Lavender is scheduled to face off against second-seeded Ksenia Kuznetsova and Richardson will face Elvina Kalieva.
The qualifying portion of the Charleston tournament consists of three rounds that will narrow the field from 64 participants to eight qualifiers who will advance to the main draw.
